CHERRY AND BANANA SMOOTHIE

This cherry smoothie doesn't keep well, as the fruit oxidizes, so blend it and enjoy it as fresh as possible.

Ingredients (serves 2) 

  • 20 fresh or frozen cherries
  • 3 frozen medium-sized bananas (300g)
  • 1 cup almond milk (240ml)
  • 2 dates (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons nut butter


Preparation

  • Add the almond milk to the blender, then the cherries, dates, nut butter and bananas.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Pour into smoothie glasses and serve immediately.


Tips

  • Ripe bananas should be peeled, cut into quarters and frozen in freezer bags so they're always ready for your smoothies. They generally need to be frozen at least overnight before they are firm enough to use.
  • Peanut butter and almond butter are both excellent, but any nut butter you have on hand will do.
  • Blend and enjoy immediately. This is not something that keeps well, as the fruit will oxidize, so mix and enjoy as fresh as possible.
