BANANA AND ALMOND BUTTER SMOOTHIE

The power of this smoothie lies in the bananas. This fruit is arich source of potassium and vitamin B6, both of which can help fight fatigue and low energy. You'll also find healthy fats in ground flaxseed, almond butter and raw cashews, which can contribute to better energy.

Ingredients - serves 2

  • 2 cups milk (whole, 2%, almond, cashew, soy or coconut)
  • 2 dried dates, pitted.
  • 2 medium bananas, chopped and frozen
  • 1/2 cup raw cashews, soaked overnight in water.
  • 1/4 cup almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of kosher salt


Preparation tips

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Divide between 2 glasses.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon (optional) and serve immediately.


To make this smoothie, choose the milk you prefer as the liquid base. There's no right or wrong choice. We prefer whole milk for its richness, although 2% and plant milks also make for a creamy, tasty smoothie.

 
More important than the type of milk is using the right amount of liquid to ensure the smoothie has a thick, drinkable consistency.
